Donalee Berard, CPA - donalee@berardcpas.com
Donalee is the named senior partner of Berard & Associates, C.P.A.’s, P.C., which she opened in 1984. Donalee is licensed in NY, NJ, and PA, specializing in serving all manner of clients, including individuals, businesses, nonprofits, and governments.
Donalee graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas College with degrees in Accounting and Actuarial Science. Donalee is a member of several professional Accounting organizations including the AICPA, NYSSCPA, NCCPAP, AICPA Government Audit Quality Center, and the AICPA Not-For-Profit Division. Donalee has served as an advisor to the AICPA Pension Committee, which serves accountants throughout the United States and Canada.
Donalee is the past President and is still currently active as a member of the Suffern Rotary Club. Donalee participates in Rotary International conventions, third-world projects and supports local charitable agency’s projects and fundraisers. Donalee continues to serve on the board of the Suffern Library and supports many, many charitable organizations. Donalee also enjoys salsa dancing with her husband Jim.
George Morfogen, C.P.A. – george@berardcpas.com
George is a Partner at Berard & Associates who earned his bachelor’s in accountancy at Fordham University in 2018 and master’s degree in accounting with a focus in data analytics at Villanova University in 2019. George started his career as a high school student, working at Berard & Associates as an intern in 2013. In 2016, while in college, George returned intermittently to intern at Berard & Associates when his college schedule allowed. After graduation, George worked for KPMG for four years, performing audit work for nonprofit clients, including charities and healthcare organizations. Additionally, George help implement analytical tools and new accounting systems for bookkeeping and audit clients.
George loves to cook and is very proud of his Greek heritage. He has volunteered for many years at the Greek Festival held each year in West Nyack, NY to benefit Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church.
Joann Arendes, CPA- joann@berardcpas.com
Joann is a Director with the firm and a C.P.A. who earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from St. John’s University in 1989. Joann has been working in accounting ever since. Joann joined Berard & Associates, C.P.A.’s, P.C. in August of 2005. She is a member of our Audit team which focuses on nonprofit and government clients. Joann’s work includes preparation of financial statements, audits, and reviews. She analyzes uniform guidance performance and audits employee benefit plans. She is thoroughly knowledgeable in accounting, especially in the area of Auditing.
Joann is proud of her early work at the NYC Comptroller’s Office where she worked as a Staff Auditor and moved on to the position of Audit Supervisor, overseeing audits of various NYC Agencies. Joann experience includes working for Deloitte and Touche, LLP in both Chicago and New York, (where she honed her auditing skills). Joann specializes in pension and nonprofit organizations. Joann has been married for over 30 years and has a daughter who has earned her Master’s Degree. Joann is owned by two cats who are completely spoiled and rule the house they let her and her husband live in.

Kevin is a Director with the firm who graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from St. Thomas Aquinas College in 1993 and has been working in the field ever since. Kevin joined Berard & Associates in 2001 and serves as Senior Accounting Manager in the Accounting and Tax department. Kevin is an Enrolled Agent with the Internal Revenue Service and is also a partner in Key Metrics, LLC., providing outsourced accounting, payroll, and controller services to small and medium sized businesses.
Kevin married his wife Laurie in 1993. They have a son, Michael. They are pet enthusiasts and Laurie is a certified pet trainer and provides boarding services. Kevin actively volunteers with the NY/NJ Trail Conference and helps maintain several trails in Harriman State Park. Kevin is an avid sports fan, (Let’s go Mets!) Kevin enjoys many indoor and outdoor sports including darts and hiking.

Michael has worked in Accounting since 1988. He graduated from Dominican College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and began his career at Korn Rosenbaum, LLP. Michael transitioned to Berard & Associates in January of 2017 when they purchased the practice. Michael is well versed in many areas of accounting. He works as an Auditor focusing on Employee Benefit Funds, Not-for-Profit organizations & Government entities. Michael prepares personal and corporate income taxes and is experienced in accounting for the wholesale and construction industries. Michael is an avid golfer and sports fan.

Jesse earned a Master’s Degree in Public Accounting from Mercy College in 2020. He started his accounting career as an intern at CBIZ Marks, Paneth, LLP. He then became a member of the Tax and Accounting team at B & A in 2021. Jesse loves the outdoors and enjoys playing soccer, running, and riding his ATV/UTV vehicles.

Leah received her associate’s degree in accounting from Monroe University. Since 2016 she has worked in the accounting industry as a staff accountant. Leah joined Berard & Associates in 2024 as a member of the accounting team. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband & children.

Jim Burton is the Client Services Director for Key Metrics, LLC., and coordinates contracts for Controller Services. Jim also helps to prepare individual tax returns. Jim is an experienced executive administrator and worked for nonprofit organizations in Rockland County, NY for over 25 years. Jim has a Bachelor’s Degree from SUNY at Stony Brook, enjoys cooking, salsa dancing with enjoying life with his wife Donalee. Jim is currently President of the Rotary Club of New City, NY. and past President of Athelstane Lodge #839, (Freemasons). Jim is also an alumnus of Leadership Rockland, class of 2010.

Katya has been with Berard & Associates working as an auditor since October of 2016. She specializes in nonprofit and government accounting, auditing and taxes. Katya is fluent in Russian, has a son and enjoys teaching math to children.

David started as an intern with Berard & Associates in January 2018 and became a full-time employee in May 2018. Dave earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Auditing from SUNY at Plattsburgh. Dave is a member of the Audit Department team and works on nonprofit and government accounts. In his free time, Dave enjoys cooking for his family and friends. (Dave also has a culinary degree!) Dave’s favorite food to prepare is his homemade mint chocolate chip ice cream.

Anite joined the Berard & Associates CPA’s Audit team in 2021. She earned her Master’s Degree from Keller Graduate School of Management and has worked in Accounting since 2010. Anite has been a resident of Rockland County since she emigrated from Haiti, over 20 years ago.

Ana is a C.P.A. and joined Berard & Associates CPA’s, PC in 2023. She has been working in the Accounting field since 2015. Currently, Ana works as a Senior Accountant having earned her Bachelor’s Degree from East Carolina University in 2017 and a Master’s Degree from Villanova University in 2019. Ana grew up in the Outer Banks of North Carolina and one of her hobbies includes collecting vinyl records. Ana has a diverse knowledge of accounting in various industries, including real estate, consumer goods and technology. Ana’s experience includes working for a Big 4 firm prior to joining Berard & Associates.

Giancarlo started as an intern at Berard & Associates in June 2023 and stayed throughout his last year of school. He graduated from Pace University with a BBA and MBA in Public Accounting in May 2024. He has been a staff member since graduation and he is on the track of becoming a licensed CPA. Outside of work, he has a newly discovered hobby of indoor rock climbing/bouldering. He enjoys staying active by playing soccer, basketball, bike riding, or hiking. He also enjoys relaxing at home playing games.

Dawn has been working as an Office Manager for CPA firms since 2003. She joined the Berard & Associates staff in 2013. She is married, has a son and enjoys crafts and gardening.

Gail began working as a Secretary for Korn Rosenbaum LLP in 1981 and joined Berard & Associates as the Secretary and Manager of Client Services on January 1st, 2017. She has been married to her husband, Todd, for over 25 years and they have 2 children and a rescue dog.
